Daycare Program

Sunshine Academy offers both a Lunch Program as well as a Daycare Program from Kindergarten through Grade Six.

The Provincial Government subsidizes daycare at $8.15 a day (effective January 1, 2017) for three to five days of daycare. The fee for the daycare program includes lunch supervision.

The Daycare program provides quality care and enrichment for children in a secure and caring atmosphere. The program enables children to experience opportunities for encouraging social, emotional and intellectual development. Our daycare works on a free flow program where children are empowered to choose the activity they would most like to participate in. As per regulations from the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports, a study hall is available to all students who wish to complete their homework during daycare.

Activities are incorporated in the program such as:

  • Homework Time
  • After School Snacks
  • Theme Projects
  • Computer
  • Organized Gym Activities
  • Arts n' Crafts
  • Clubs (chess, science and cooking)
  • Outings

Daycare Vision Statement

  • That all children are treated with respect and dignity within the daycare and that harmony and creativity are encouraged.
  • That the overall mental and physical health of a child must be the priority within the framework and goals of the Sunshine Academy Daycare.
  • That Sunshine Academy Daycare be at the forefront of innovation and childcare education in the Lester B. Pearson School Board group of school daycares.
